link love: 03.03.2012

Is anyone else ready for Spring?  We have had such a mild winter, so it seems silly, but I have Spring fever!  Here are a few “springy” ideas from around the blogs this week:

Painting rainbows using paper plates and coffee filters…we just saw a beautiful rainbow this week!

Don’t you love this beautiful, simple St. Patrick’s Day mantel?  The painted “rainbow” of boards is such a cool statement that could apply to a lot of different seasons just by changing the paint colors.

Here’s the cute Lucky printable by LandeeSee LandeeDo that she featured on her mantel.

Great idea for shaving cream Easter Egg crafts to do with your kiddos!

What about you?  Are you ready for Spring or still holding on to the last bits of winter?

Thanksgiving is next week, but you still have some time to get some crafting done...

What about a cute shirt like this for your little turkey?

If you have little ones at home, making a turkey handprint is a fast and fun craft that will be a great keepsake.

Print this free printable out to add a little Thanksgiving decor to your mantle...

Or better yet, grab a few sticks out of your yard, stick them in a beautiful urn or vase, and make a quick Thankful tree to serve as a centerpiece for your Thanksgiving feast.

Until next week when the Christmas link love begins...

I love the idea of matching PJs for Christmas...my husband, on the other hand, is not so crazy about it.

How cute is this pom-pom pillow? I am definitely making a couple of these for our house this winter.

Such an easy DIY...pour epsom salt into a mason jar, add a candle, light the candle. Simple but stunning. How great would these look lining a walkway to your front door?

This may be my favorite idea. DIY stocking holders for less than $5!

I made a few of these ruffle trees as decorations for a boutique show booth last year...they were very cute and super easy to make.

Easy DIY hot chocolate stirrer sticks!  These would make great neighbor gifts for the holidays.

Fabric-covered poster board trees…super cute and so affordable!

31 days of warming up to the holiday: {day 8} link love

Today’s post for 31 days is going to be a take on my usual Saturday post called “link love”.  I usually post links from around blogland that I love.  Pretty self-explanatory, I suppose. :)

Today’s “link love” will be all holiday-related….enjoy some eye candy!

Source: craftinessisnotoptional.com via Mary Jo on Pinterest

I love this raw-edged circle quilt. I plan to start on mine this week - although I will be hand cutting all of the circles. I wish I had an Accuquilt!

Source: cluckclucksew.com via Mary Jo on Pinterest

Wouldn't these be cute in Christmas colors? Or reds and whites to resemble peppermints?

Very cute DIY Christmas stockings...

Source: 1.bp.blogspot.com via Mary Jo on Pinterest

These are on my to do list...I think they would look beautiful hung on a tree or in a window! Maybe with some glitter or using Christmas sheet music?

Hope you have enjoyed the last 8 days of our 31 days!  Look for another printable tomorrow morning!

link love: 09.24.2011

It's another great week of link love...most of these ideas that I've come across are fall-related.  I just can't help it, fall is my FAVORITE season.

Source: lessthanperfectlifeofbliss.blogspot.com via Mary Jo on Pinterest

I just love this Blessings Board. I made one as a giveaway for our MOPS group last year and am definitely planning on making one for our home this year. Wouldn't this be a great hostess gift to take to Thanksgiving dinner? If you start scouring the garage sales now, you can make this for a bargain!

Photos of beautiful fall mantels are all over blogland...this is the perfect alternative for those who don't have mantels. I especially love the barn door shutters!

This is definitely going on the "to do" list for me. I LOVE this idea! I just saw a grapevine pumpkin at Hobby Lobby that might work well for this project (using my 40% off coupon, of course)...

Source: vermillionrules.blogspot.com via Mary Jo on Pinterest

I've seen all of those cute ruffled scarves in stores and Etsy shops...now I can make my own using a t-shirt! This would look really cute with a fabric flower (or three) pinned to it.

If you are wondering what to do with your extra Martha Stewart glitter, you must try this fabulous Glitter French Tip tutorial by my crafty friend, Amanda from I Sew, Do You?  If you haven't checked out her blog, grab a cup of coffee and settle in...she has some great recipes and DIY projects!

What have you come across this week on the good ol' blogs or Pinterest?

link love: 09.17.2011

It is definitely feeling like fall this week, so I thought I'd have another little themed link love this week...wreaths! There are some seriously fabulous fall wreaths floating around the internet.  Here are a few of my favorites....

Source: jonesdesigncompany.com via Mary Jo on Pinterest

If I could pick a fall wreath to hang on my door every.single.year it would be this one from Emily Jones (of Jones Design Company). Would you believe that this wreath is made from coffee filters?  Pretty incredible.  When you get to the end of this post, you must hop over to Emily's blog (just click on the pin above which will bring you to Pinterest...click again to be taken to the tutorial), grab a cup of coffee, and settle in.

Source: etsy.com via Catherine on Pinterest

This is not a tutorial, rather a link to an Etsy shop...but I LOVE everything about this yarn wreath.

Source: impartinggrace.com via Mary Jo on Pinterest

Richella, from Imparting Grace, spotted a similar wreath in a William Sonoma catalog and used that inspiration to make this wreath for FREE!

Source: jonesdesigncompany.com via Rachel on Pinterest

Another Emily Jones original. So simple...burlap, a few flowers, a feather, and a tag.  Simple but totally fabulous.

Source: sheskindacrafty.blogspot.com via Mary Jo on Pinterest

If you're more into football than decorating for fall, you might want to try your hand at making one of these ribbon wreaths to show everyone on the block who you cheer for!

If you want to check out lots of great wreaths, visit the Nester's "You Made a Wreath Out of What?" linky party!

Do you have a wreath on your front door?  Are you more of the DIY'er or the "drive to Hobby Lobby and buy what I like"-er?

link love: 09.10.2011

I always go back and check out what I've "pinned" this week before I write my link love post.   My pins are totally random this week, but I pinned a lot of promising recipes.  I guess the fall weather makes me want to bake...now that it's not seventy billion degrees outside and I can actually turn on my oven without fear of heating the house up to eleventy billion degrees.

Here are some of the yummy sounding recipes...

I can't think of a pumpkin recipe that I don't love...

Peanut butter and chocolate...how can you go wrong?

Again with the pumpkin...

I am so trying these apple fritters...they would be perfect with some hot apple cider or coffee!

Do you have any great fall recipes?  Do share!!

*If you click on the pictures, you will be taken to my "pin".  If you click on the "pin", you'll be taken to the recipe!**

It's September...bring on the cooler weather!  It's close to 100 here today, but next week is supposed to bring cooler weather.

Here are a few things this week that caught my eye and made me think of fall...

School box lunch notes...love the clean and classic design of these and the fact that they are FREE!

Source: cluckclucksew.com via Mary Jo on Pinterest

This pillow has been floating around the blogs for at least a year or more, but I still love it. I actually made one last year that was given away at one of our MOPS meeting...I guess that means I need to make a new one for our house!

Source: myblessedlife.net via Mary Jo on Pinterest

These DIY hurricanes work perfectly for fall (for any season, really) and they are CHEAP to make! These were made out of a Dollar Store vase and candle stick. Love it.

I also came across this DIY fall canvas on My Blessed Life.  It's super cute, easy to do, and very affordable.  You could easily tailor this for Christmas, too.

Have you started decorating for fall or are you waiting for cooler weather?

link love: 08.27.2011

Today was one of the first Saturdays we've spent at home with nothing to do, so it's flown by!  Of course that means I've been working on lots of projects.  We spent the afternoon and evening swapping our son's room around.  I had a friend come over and give lots of advice for arranging the room and things on the walls...it looks great!  I will post pictures soon. :)

As a result of the stream of projects, I'm posting link love a little late...but here are a few projects that have caught my eye this week:

Grayson starts preschool on September 6...and after seeing this I plan to have him write his name on a little chalkboard for a picture that day! I'd love to have this be a "first day of school" tradition in our family to see how his handwriting develops and changes.

I spotted this daybed made out of pallets on a blog and fell.in.love. How great would this be on a screened-in porch?!

I am a little late to the fad that is Instagram, but it is pretty fun. I love this tutorial on creating your own "Instagallery" for all of the photos you've taken.

What has caught your eye this week?

link love: 08.20.2011

I can't believe it's been over a month since I posted some of my favorite links.  It's been a fun (and BUSY) summer around here so I'm definitely looking forward to the slower pace of fall.

Here are a few things that have caught my eye this week:

Source: rosehip.typepad.com via Mary Jo on Pinterest

I pretty much love every.single.thing about this picture.  We are planning  a little swap with some of the rooms in our house and this has helped me "finalize" what I'm thinking for our guest room/my sewing room.  I have been on the hunt for vintage sheets to create a quilt (or duvet cover) and am going to see if my grandma can crochet a few of these pillow covers.  Beautiful.

My friend Cat, over at Cap Creations, shows us an easy way to re-create the look of a canvas print without the price!  I think I'm going to try my hand at these with a few of my printables.

Source: joyshope.com via Mary Jo on Pinterest

Joy's Hope is always packed with awesome tutorials and beautiful pictures.  Julie turned a plain cookie sheet and a can into an "art on the go" solution for the car. Genius!

Vintage doors (from her 1938 home) + aqua spray paint + green spray paint = a vintage door privacy screen to love!

Source: iammommahearmeroar.blogspot.com via Mary Jo on Pinterest

A new "bloggy friend" of mine posted about some alphabet rocks that she made for her son.  I came across this picture on Pinterest a few days later.  What an awesome idea - especially for little boys. :) Brilliant!

Have you come across any great links this week?

link love: 07.09.2011

It's been a crazy few weeks in our house and it's about to get even crazier.  We just returned from an awesome week at Kid's Camp, we have Vacation Bible School this week, follow that with camp with the teenagers, and round out July with 200 students staying at our church for World Changers.  It's been fun and will be even more fun, but it's been busy!  Welcome to the life of a youth pastor's wife! Ha! :)

Our busy pace has me dreaming of a relaxing vacation on a beach somewhere, so this week's link love is based around all things coastal...

Source: craftberrybush.blogspot.com via Mary Jo on Pinterest

I'd love to make something similar to this...maybe with a scripture on it??  We have lots of old baseboard molding in the garage...

Beautiful, simple, coastal decor...

I love this coastal, summery mantle designed by Layla at The Lettered Cottage...

I'd decorate my (imaginary) beach house just like this...

For those of us who don't live close to the sea, this print is a beautiful reminder for the summer...
