christmas in July…

I know it’s July 31, but I am already dreaming of Christmas! If you follow me on Pinterest, you’ve probably noticed. Maybe it’s the constant over 100-degree temperatures we’re experiencing, or the promise of a sweet baby girl arriving at the end of November, but all I can think about is Christmas!

Here are some “Christmassy” things that I’ve seen that I just love and can’t wait to recreate in our home this winter…

A worn wood crate, mason jars, epsom salt, and candles...so beautiful!

I love the way Aimee Weaver uses an old card display rack to perfectly display Christmas cards! I'm on the hunt for one now!

What a cute, easy mantle decor idea! Love the stripes and spots!

We all know how much I love book pages and sheet music...these ornaments would be perfect for our tree! I can see making them using plastic, nonbreakable ornaments for our tree!

What about you?  Are you dreaming of Christmas or thoroughly enjoying the hottest summer on record?

what I’m working on…

Our little guy is spending a few days in Texas with his grandparents, so I’m working on my “to do” list!

One thing is making over this desk…

desk

With the addition of a little girl to our family, there’s a bit of room-switching going on…which means that I’m losing my sewing room!  But I’m not worried, because with a little creativity and moving around, it’ll be great!  The desk (a Craig’s List find for $20!!) has had a little spray paint and caster remodel and is ready to serve as my new sewing desk. It’ll be paired with one of these to make a mobile sewing cart/center!

I really wanted the turquoise version, but Ikea was out of stock when my sister went on her shopping trip for me! Most of my fabric and other supplies are going to be housed in half of the walk-in closet in what’s now the guest room/nursery.

I’ll update in the next few days and give you some sneak peeks along the way!

link love: 07.28.2012

After a few months, I thought it was time to bring back the “link love” posts on Saturdays!  Today’s link love features nurseries/kid’s rooms that I love!  Click on the picture to be taken to my pin and then to the original source.

I love this dresser makeover by Dear Emmeline!  She took an antique dresser that was in poor shape and turned it into this beautiful dresser for her daughter.

This sweet little vignette is something I’d definitely like to recreate in our little one’s room!

The soft colors and painted dresser in this nursery won me over!

LOVE this sweet, bright turquoise nursery with its pops of red!

Do you have any favorite kid’s rooms or nurseries that I must see? Happy Saturday!

A little room swapping and update…

Since we found out we’ll be adding a lot more PINK to our family this fall, we did some re-arranging of rooms in our home this week.  My dad built Grayson some beautiful bunk beds (look for these in another post) that we going to be a much better fit in what used to be our guest room.  My parents drove the beds out this week and they are FANTASTIC!

While I had the chance, I thought I’d update Grayson’s room a little to reflect the things that he loves right now…HORSES!  Here are a few of the things that we have so far, along with some projects that I’d like to complete.  Click the links below if you’re interested in online sources!

grayson's room

1. Paint, Monroe Bisque by Benjamin Moore
2. Arstid Wall Lamp, IKEA
3. Curtains: Barn Dandys fabric by Robert Kaufman (fabric found at Joann Fabrics, curtains made by me)
4. Pillow cases (made by me using this tutorial): Sweet Horsey White fabric by Michael Miller (from fabric.com)
5. NYPONROS Duvet cover and pillowcases, white/blue, IKEA
6. Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Emperor’s Silk, hopefully to be used on a small bookshelf
7. Planked Pony wall art from Pottery Barn that I plan to “knock off” using this tutorial.

Look for an “update post” in the near future showing the (hopefully) completed room!

Dove® VisibleCare™ Softening Crème Body Wash Review and Spa Finder Giveaway

Introducing Dove® VisibleCare® Crème Body Wash. Built on the brand’s heritage in cleansing and caring for skin, Dove VisibleCare combines the best of Dove technology into a luxurious experience for beauty seekers. With the highest concentration of NutriumMoisture technology across the Dove portfolio, Dove VisibleCare Crème Body Wash actually improves the look of skin over time. Visit Dove® VisibleCare® to get a coupon for $1 off!

As a mom of a preschooler, a daily shower is something that becomes more of a luxury than part of our every day routine. Does the same thing happen in your home? Showers are definitely considered a luxury, especially now that we’re expecting another sweet baby, I so look forward to my showers and enjoy them. Luckily I have a little boy that’s content to play on his own while I get a few minutes to myself! I know I need to enjoy that as much as possible before we add a newborn to the mix in November!

I have loved and used Dove products for a long time, but hadn’t tried this particular body wash yet…so I was excited to try this new Dove® VisibleCare™ Softening Crème Body Wash when BlogHer contacted me and immediately jumped on the opportunity to review it!

According to the website, it is “designed to soften skin and dry spots”, which is crucial for my sometimes over-dry skin. The bottle even says that you’ll see visibly more beautiful skin in just one week! I have been using Dove® VisibleCare™ Softening Crème Body Wash for a few weeks and absolutely love it.

When I was pregnant with my son several years ago, I suffered from very dry, itchy skin especially on the ever-growing baby belly!  I have made sure to pay a little extra attention to this baby belly of mine and have been very pleasantly surprised.  No dry, itchy skin yet!  I am definitely going to keep this up and see if the Dove® VisibleCare™ Softening Crème Body Wash can prevent that from happening!

The Dove® VisibleCare™ Softening Crème Body Wash is very thick, almost like a lotion, and has a beautiful fragrance. The website describes the fragrance as “a white floral gourmand fragrance that includes an elegant combination of magnolia and pink jasmine.” It’s a very light fragrance that’s not overly strong or too floral…a problem that I often have with other body washes.

Along with the Softening Crème Body Wash, Dove also offers a Toning Crème Body Wash and Renewing Crème Body Wash.   Hop over to the Dove® website and take a look at the 3 options. You can watch videos, read reviews from other women, and find a store closest to you where the Dove® VisibleCare™  line of body washes can be purchased. Which of these varieties would you choose??

Our second biggest project...

So.....you may have noticed a decrease in the posts over the past few months. Here is my excuse.

Yep! We are expecting another sweet baby in November. I'm due a few says after Thanksgiving, but I'm hoping to spend Thanksgiving at home holding a sweet new baby instead of in the hospital.

We're scheduled for the "big" ultrasound tomorrow! I can't wait to start planning a nursery. I'll be back with the announcement soon!

Enjoying a little time away...

We snuck away to the beach for a few days! My husband, a youth pastor, brought a group of students to the beach for Beach Camp and we tagged along.

It's been a fabulous week and we have totally enjoyed our little getaway! I'll be back to posting in a few days.
